                                                 JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

JOB TITLE: Wawasee Staff Childcare Infant/Toddler Classroom Paraprofessional

TYPE OF POSITION: Classified

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services

Hours: 5.75 Hours 

 

Position Purpose: The primary function of the paraprofessional of the Wawasee Staff Childcare Infant/Toddler Classroom paraprofessional is to guide and support the lead teacher as well as the children ages 6 weeks to 3 years in the classroom.  This person will cultivate an environment of assisting in providing high-quality childcare. 

 

Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. 

  1. Help enforce best practices for the childcare center. 
  2. Maintain a fun and interactive classroom that is clean, safe, and organized. 
  3. Assists with the implementation of education during all classroom activities. 
  4. Assists with the planning and execution of nutritious meals for students. 
  5. Carry out required emergency drills. 
  6. Operate within a given budget. 
  7. Keep an accurate inventory of supplies. 
  8. Participate in an effective and motivational environment to enhance the team performance. 
  9. Participate in ongoing educational development plans for staff in keeping with the needs of the program. 
  10. Adheres to childcare standards. 
  11. Communicates with parents regularly to provide updates regarding progress and development. 
  12. Works with teaching staff to find ways to address any behavioral or learning concerns. 
  13. Adhere to all state and local regulations. 
  14. Other duties as assigned by Director/Principal/Designee. 

License/Qualifications: 

  1. Experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 3 years old
  2. Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills with children and adults.
  3. Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate with parents, staff, and children. 
  4. Must have an appropriate code of ethics for working with young children. 
  5. Must be flexible and able to react appropriately to changing circumstances. 
  6. Must possess excellent customer service.
