Title: School Bus Route Driver – We will PAY to train you!

Reports to: Director of Transportation

A school bus driver at Wawasee Community Schools provides safe, courteous, and timely bus transportation between home and school for all students. 

Essential Functions:

• Transport authorized students on assigned routes/schedules and report deviations
• Work with transportation office to maintain accurate route directions in the routing software
• Communicate with parents/guardians as necessary regarding student transportation
• Maintain discipline and work with school assistant principal for support when necessary
• Obey all traffic laws and observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
• Perform operational pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report malfunctions
• Turn in all required paperwork on time
• Work with garage staff to schedule needed service or mechanical repairs
• Keep vehicle clean, fueled,  and in good operating condition
• Report all accidents and follow proper reporting procedures
• Exercise responsible leadership while driving out of district trips
• Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Director of Transportation

Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years of age

We will train you, help you obtain the necessary certifications, provide a trained driver to assist you in learning bus routes, and provide opportunities for additional shuttle routes for extra compensation.
